Information about how to become a foster carer with Anglicare Victoria and the support we offer our carers and the children in their care.

Foster care

Becoming a foster carer can be very rewarding. If you are interested in becoming a carer, the first step is to attend an information evening. There you will learn the different types of foster care situations and about the support offered by Anglicare Victoria to its carers. Following the information session Anglicare Victoria provides a training course designed to give you the information you need to become a carer. Finally a staff member will meet with you and any other family members to complete the assessment process. You may then be approved as an accredited carer – ready to support a child in your home. This process can occur over a three to six month time frame.
