Becoming a foster carer is an important decision and the process can take some time.

Training

All foster carers in Victoria are required to complete the full Shared Stories Shared Lives training package.

Preparing you and your family 

There are many things you may need to consider in preparing your family for foster care

Forms

Applicants are required to read and sign a number of documents and complete background checks

NOTE: Criminal History Check Identification needs to be sighted and certified (either by a designated member of Anglicare Victoria staff or by a member of the Victorian Police Force at any Police Station). The Criminal History Check form and the accompanying copies of your identifying documentation needs to be returned to the Recruitment, Training & Retention Team for processing. Obtaining a Criminal History Check is free of charge. All household members over the age of 18 are required to obtain a Criminal History Check.
