Anglicare Victoria praises Labor Government’s 10 year plan to end family violence

Anglicare Victoria’s Chief Executive Paul McDonald has responded to the Labor Government’s 10 year plan to end family violence, saying it provides the avenues for realistic change and praising Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on the continued leadership he has shown on behalf of all Victorian women and children affected by family violence.

The Ending Family Violence: Victoria’s Plan for Change proposes six reforms, including a network of Support and Safety Hubs across Victoria, where victims of Family Violence can access the support they need to stay safe.

“Each day Anglicare Victoria via our Child FIRST, Integrated Family Services and Family Violence programs, respond to incidents of family violence,” says Mr McDonald.

“In particular, the proposed support and safety hubs in Inner Gippsland, Bayside Peninsula, Barwon, Mallee & North East Melbourne will be extremely beneficial and welcome in these specific geographic areas where our services see high levels of family violence incidents,” says Mr McDonald.

“We welcome the opportunity to work closely with the State Government to develop support and safety hubs across Victoria.”

“Safety and protections for victims is paramount. It is up to everyone to continue to move forward to work effectively to eradicate family violence,” says Mr McDonald.
