C’mon Melbourne, let’s do it for the kids!
Melburnians have lived through the world’s longest lockdown, but for our most vulnerable kids, there will be little Christmas joy to look forward to and no parcels under the tree. So let’s spread some Christmas cheer for those doing it tough!
Anglicare Victoria know that things are harder than ever for these vulnerable kids and their families. From our work on the frontlines of family care, we have seen more than double the demand for emergency relief support at some of our Melbourne locations and we supported more than 30,000 kids and families in need throughout the pandemic.
Sadly, Anglicare Victoria’s new report on the impact of COVID-19 indicates that the aftershocks of the pandemic will not only be more severe for vulnerable families but are likely to last years.
It’s clear that families are under pressure, and the kids will be feeling it for a long time to come.
Your donations will make a child’s day; someone like Anna, a young girl who received a Christmas present through AV last year. Anna was particularly delighted when she found out her new toy – a doll – had the same long black ponytails, pretty pink outfit and skin colour as her. “She’s the same as me!” Anna was over the moon. After a challenging chapter of their life, her family were very appreciative. Anna now takes the doll to kinder, and it has supported her in interacting with other children and overcoming her social anxiety.
