Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving to give back to organisations that make a difference in people’s lives.
This year on December 3, we are raising much needed funds for therapeutic support in Anglicare Victoria’s (AV) Out of Home Care (OoHC).
We also have a very generous partner on board in Bendigo Hyundai, who have kindly offered to MATCH all donations for 24 hours!
What are we raising funds for?
OoHC refers to foster care, kinship care and residential services. When children come into OoHC, they have often experienced tremendous hardship, which can lead to behavioural challenges.
To ensure these children go back home, or to a stable alternative, our dedicated staff work with them to provide the support they may need. This may involve tools or mechanisms to help children cope with past trauma.
We are trying to raise funds for tools such as calm kits, weighted vests & blankets that can help children calm themselves in times of high anxiety and distress.
Children also benefit from having Zeus, AV’s therapy dog. Zeus provides children with the healing companionship they need, however his food and vet care can get expensive.
We are also looking to raise funds for frontline staff, to ensure they receive the necessary training and support to care for the vulnerable children in OoHC. This will equip them with the tools to deal with difficult situations, and provide the best care possible.
AV is the state’s largest provider of OoHC services. We ensure that children and young people can access safe environments. But we can’t do this without your help.
