Jess needs YOU!

Anglicare Victoria is looking for a compassionate and energetic person or couple who is ready to make a positive difference by becoming a Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) carer for thirteen year old Jess*.

Jess* has had a complex life and as her TFCO carer you have the opportunity to change her future for the better in just six to nine months.

Jess is a confident young person who enjoys activities of all kinds especially anything social or active, and has a keen interest in exercise, music, fashion and art, she also particularly loves animals. Jess is a funny and engaging young person with a passion for life and a large personality.

Jess has experienced instability in her home life as well as childhood trauma and this makes if difficult for her to contain her emotions and behaviours at times. This also causes her to seek out attention from people around her who may not support her to be happy and healthy.

As Jess’s carer you will need to have a desire to spend time with Jess, to show her patience and warmth as well as create structure and implement boundaries to keep her safe. You will also have a desire to help her return to her birth family, and support her to engage in ‘everyday’ activities and experiences such as school, sports, outings, and learning life skills.

Jess’ ideal carer will enjoy a challenge and have some experience or knowledge of the complexities facing young people in residential care, they will also have the flexibility to spend time with Jess, will have a good sense of humour, an active lifestyle, knowledge of the importance of implementing boundaries for complex young people as well as a strong passion for helping create meaningful change.

As Jess’ carer you will be an integral part of the TFCO program.
