A community of caring, committed men.
For over 15 years Anglicare Victoria’s Peaceful Warriors program has provided emotional development and support programs to boys aged between 9 and 16 years in the Eastern Region. The program supports boys to develop healthy understandings of masculinity through weekly activity-based workshops.
Positive male role models are present with the boys in the group, engaging in conversations and actively participating in workshops and reflections required during the sessions. It has been well established that boys need men in their lives to be able to grow with confidence into manhood. Boys need positive and consistent role models who can provide reference points for learning about adult masculinity.
Four Peaceful Warriors programs are run each year:
- Older age group (13-16 years) Term 1 & 3 at Anglicare’s Lilydale office
- Younger age group (9-12 years) Term 2 in Woori Yallock, Term 4 in Healesville
Sessions are held on Tuesday nights, starting at 6.30pm and finishing between 8.00 – 8.30pm.
Activities completed across the program include: one high ropes day, a 3 day camp over a weekend, group games, cycling, camp cooking, fishing and other activities (including a level of physical exertion).
The Peaceful Warriors team is looking for boys who are interested in activity, adventure and connection to participate in our program. For more information, please see our flyer for Term 1 here
Any men seeking to mentor and support Peaceful Warriors participants are welcome to contact Steven Smith, Peaceful Warriors Coordinator for more information. See our flyer for more information about the role of a mentor here
