Responding to local community needs: Anglicare Victoria opens in Wonthaggi.

19 January 2018.

Anglicare Victoria is responding to community needs in the Bass Coast region, with a new office opening in Wonthaggi next Monday.

Anglicare Victoria’s Gippsland Regional Director Jane Anderson says that while services have been provided to children and the Bass Coast region for decades, moving services into Wonthaggi will provide greater access for the community.

“Opening in Wonthaggi shows that there are real needs that require on the ground support. It’s a way to strengthen partnerships and address community service requirements for the
surrounding area and the South Gippsland corridor.”

“Our aim is to meet the pressing needs that exist within the local community and alleviate
hardship for future generations so we can help end the cycle of disadvantage.”

Programs and support available at Wonthaggi will include Family Services, Out of Home
Care, Cradle to Kinder, Financial Counselling, Gippsland Community Legal Service (GCLS)
and Youth Services.

The office will be opened by Anglicare Victoria’s Gippsland Regional Director Jane Anderson
and Cr Pamela Rothfield.

The opening will also include a Smoking Ceremony by the BoonwurrungBunurong people.
