Working for Victoria Initiative at Anglicare Victoria

Update: All Working for Victoria positions have been filled.

Anglicare Victoria is recruiting a state-wide network of new staff, providing employment to those who have lost jobs and enhancing our efforts supporting at-risk families and individuals who are struggling during the global health emergency.

Thanks to the Andrews Government’s Working for Victoria initiative, 88 fixed-term positions have been created to help vulnerable Victorians, many of whom have never accessed social services before.

Paul McDonald, CEO of Anglicare Victoria, said AV is recruiting for people with social, emotional and financial skills to provide immediate support and advice to those who need it.

“Thousands have found themselves without an income as COVID-19 has taken hold, and Victorians need our support now more than ever,” Mr McDonald said.

“The Working for Victoria initiative will assist an unprecedented number of people doing it tough as a result of COVID-19. It’s great we’ll be able to provide employment to almost 90 people across Victoria and prepare communities to bounce back once the spread of the virus is contained.”

Staff will work with vulnerable families, isolated individuals and older people to access material aid, referral to more specific services, care during quarantine, mental or physical health support, and assistance for socially disconnected people to make social and community connections.

Of the available positions, 19 will focus solely on providing financial wellbeing support. These staff members will provide information and support to families who are having difficulty paying their bills and are struggling to keeping up with their financial commitments.

New positions will be made available in metropolitan Melbourne and across regional Victoria. All roles will be advertised on Sidekicker.

Prospective staff will need a current driver’s license and a valid Working with Children Check and Police Check. Experience working with diverse groups, and qualifications in social work or community development are highly desirable.
