In order to champion, assist and support Victorians with disabilities and their families, we offer a comprehensive range of services throughout the state.
Caring for children with disabilities can be challenging. While it can also be extremely rewarding, families often face a range of difficulties throughout their journey. The Anglicare Victoria Disability Program helps to alleviate potential stressors by coordinating a range of programs. Each one is designed to achieve the best outcomes for parents, children and adults alike.
These services are available in the following areas:
Frankston and Mornington Peninsula
- Making a Difference: Flexible Support Packages, for people 6 to 65 years
- Early Choices: Flexible Support Packages, for children 0 – 6 years
- Continence support, for people up to 15 years
- Individual Support Package (ISP) planning and facilitation
- Individual Support Package (ISP) Case management and support
- Futures for Young Adults, for students 18 – 21 years
- Behaviour Support Group: Funny Feelings ain’t Funny
- Headstart: Job readiness group for young people
Pakenham
- Groups for parents of children with disabilities
Gippsland
- Making a Difference: Flexible Support Packages
- Groups supporting parents with young children with disabilities
Bendigo, Kyneton, Maryborough, Castlemaine, Macedon Ranges, Mt Alexander
- Outreach support, recreational and community access (via Individual Support Package)
- School Holiday programs
- Individual Support Package (ISP) planning and facilitation
- Individual Support Package (ISP) Case management and support
- Disability Support Accommodation (referrals via Department of Health and Human Services)
Other regions
We work with the Department of Health and Human services to ensure we are continually enhancing the lives of children with disabilities who are also cared for in our other residential settings, as well as the dedicated carers who provide home-based care to these children.
STRENGTHENING PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM
This program, which is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services support families by:
- Providing peer support groups to parents or carers of a child with a disability or developmental delay
- Providing information, resources and advice
- Connecting them with relevant services, other families and their community
- Providing opportunities to strengthen family resilience and self-advocacy skills
