  • Ongoing volunteer roles available across Monday-Friday, within business hours with shifts ranging from 2-5 hours
  • Location: Various across Melbourne metro including inner metro, north metro, southern metro, west metro

The Position

Anglicare Victoria operates a number of Emergency Relief Programs across metropolitan and regional centres.

The programs oversee the assessment and administration of clients experiencing personal crisis or financial hardship, and provide immediate assistance in the form of food and petrol vouchers, food parcels, prescription vouchers, information, advocacy & referrals to other support services. Our programs are client facing.

We are seeking to recruit a group of community minded people who can assist with a range of roles which may include one/some of the following tasks:

In our Emergency Relief programs:

  • Assessment interviews and referral of clients to immediate supports and other community support agencies
  • Greeting clients arriving for interviews and taking client intake & assessment information
  • Data entry into Client Management System (CDS)
  • Assisting with onsite Food Distribution Service

Driving to support our Emergency Relief programs:

Driving AV vehicle from Collingwood or Fitzroy to pick up orders from charity partners and to deliver other programs in our network of sites:

  • Heidelberg (Wed)
  • Broadmeadows (Wed)
  • Sunshine (Thurs)
  • Yarraville (Fri)
  • Tarneit (Fri)

Assisting with the loading and unloading of goods from the vehicle and setting up a stall to distribute food items and prepacked food parcels from

Managing the stall and handing out food parcels/items to clients

We are also seeking applicants with ability to interact with clients in languages other than English, including Arabic and Mandarin.


To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need

  • Ongoing availability on days to be determined between Monday and Friday, within business hours
  • Be warm, friendly and empathetic in nature with genuine interest in supporting people in need
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.

Some roles will also require:

  • Be able to lead a conversation with a person experiencing crisis to assess eligibility and provide appropriate support.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
