Altitude Shift: Nadia challenges herself to take on great new heights.

Nadia, is a Residential Youth Worker at Anglicare Victoria and has recently signed up to take part in Altitude Shift. Nadia shares her story and provides some useful fundraising tips.

What made you want to take part in Altitude Shift?

I mentioned to my manager that I was looking for a new challenge and she said she knew the challenge for me! So I decided to sign up for Altitude Shift. This challenge is important to me because of the cause – fundraising to support kids in care.

How has your work at Anglicare Victoria helped influence your decision to take part in Altitude Shift?

I’m really good at facing things without panic and I think my job has actually taught me a lot of that, including how to stay calm when facing adversities and challenging situations.

Taking part in Altitude Shift is about giving back and a really good way of creating awareness of the cause out in the wider society.

Have you competed in an event like Altitude Shift before?IMG_1147

No. I have competed in a running event and taken part in the Treetop Challenge in the Dandenong Ranges, but nothing like Altitude Shift. However, for me, heights aren’t a problem.

What would you say to people who are thinking about taking part in Altitude Shift, but haven’t yet registered?

Don’t think about it – just do it!

What are your top fundraising tips?

Word of mouth – get out there, network and speak to people about the great work that Anglicare Victoria does, that we’re here to help people.

Use your connections. I’ve asked my son to spread the word at his workplace as well.

My colleagues have also been supportive and have donated.

Altitude Shift will take place over two days, Friday April 28th and Saturday April 29th, 2017. To learn more, or to register your place, visit www.altitudeshift.org.au
